YEAR OF THE DRAGON

Chinese New Year - Monday, 23 January 2012

The Lotus is holding an exclusive Chinese New Year Party on the Top Deck to celebrate the Year of The Dragon, an auspicious occasion.

A special menu has been compiled to tantalise your taste buds whilst being entertained by our resident magician. The highlight of the evening will be provided by our Lion Dance Troupe to bring good fortune and celebrate the New Year.

Chinese New Year (春節, 農曆新年) is celebrated on the first day of the first month of the Lunar Calendar (this year it falls on January 23, 2012). New Year’s Eve and New Year day is celebrated as a family affair, a time of reunion and thanksgiving.

The New Year season lasts fifteen days. The first three days are the most important and most often celebrated with visits to friends, family as well as greetings of good luck. The seventh day traditionally is everyone's birthday, the day when everyone grows one year older. The celebrations end on the important and colourful Lantern Festival on the evening of the 15th day of the new moon.
